BEFORE APPLYING

Before applying for studies in Canada, you should:

  1. Choose a designated learning institution (DLI). A DLI is a school that has been approved by the Canadian government to accept international students. You can find a list of DLIs on the website of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).
  2. Apply to the DLI of your choice. The application process will vary depending on the school, so be sure to check the school’s website for more information.
  3. Once you have been accepted by a DLI, you will need to apply for a study permit. You can apply online or by mail.
  4. To apply for a study permit, you will need to provide the following documents:
    • A copy of your passport
    • A copy of your letter of acceptance from the DLI
    • Proof of financial support
    • A copy of your medical exam results (if required)
    • A copy of your police certificate (if required)
  5. You will also need to pay an application fee. The fee is currently CAD 150.

  • Arrange for your medical exam and police certificate (if required).
